Business Author Says Bosses Can Combat Bad Economy with Employee Passion
West Chester executive consultant Keith Ayers brings international executive briefing tour to Philadelphia on October 7
PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 25, 2008)-Business author and consultant Keith Ayers will present his "Why Engagement is Not Enough" executive briefing at the Pyramid Club in downtown Philadelphia on October 7, 2008 as part of his 13-date international tour. Ayers will urge delegates to focus on the fundamental asset of their businesses-their employees-even in a time of economic strife and uncertainty.
The executive briefing coincides with the launch of his new book, Engagement is Not Enough: You Need Passionate Employees to Achieve Your Dream (Elevate, 2008), which has just hit the shelves across the country.
According to Ayers, whose executive briefing tour launched in Harrisburg on September 23, the financial crisis has thrown senior executives across the country into turmoil, but the fundamental ingredients for success are no different than they were before Wall Street hit the wall "People are understandably very concerned about the future of their businesses. But it is important not to lose sight of the fundamentals. Especially in a slow economy, your challenge is to make sure your organization-i.e. your team of people-is at its sharpest, most creative, and most innovative. This doesn't change during a slowdown. In fact, it's even more crucial when competition is at its hottest."
"In an economic crisis, many of us close ranks and revert to a control-based management model, believing the stakes to be too high to allow employees to express themselves and be creative. But there are always a few savvy leaders who see the opportunity in adversity to get ahead while the competition have their guards dropped. This is the message I'm bringing to this series of briefings: there is a big opportunity amid all this gloom. Now is the time to take action, when everyone else is sitting on their hands."
